For Large Holes, clean up the area and fill the hole with wood putty. Press firmly and smooth it with a scraper. After an hour, repair with touch-up filler. After a few hours, use another color of filler or marker to draw the wood grain. Finally, apply beewax to maintain the wood if needed.
