Copper Naphthenate 17% (2% as Metal) - 1 Gallon - Wood Preservative

Tenino Copper Naphthenate, an EPA-registered product (Reg. No. 64405-22-54471), is designed for exterior use only. This ready-to-use solution, containing 2% copper as metal, is an oil-borne formulation labeled for General Use. Packaged in a sturdy one-gallon resealable jug, it provides coverage of 100 to 300 square feet and requires no mixing or dilution. The product can be applied by brush to a variety of wood products in need of protection from the elements.

Treated wood with Tenino Copper Naphthenate will be protected from the infestation of various wood-destroying organisms, including subterranean termites, drywood termites, wood-destroying beetles, powderpost beetles, carpenter ants, and decay fungi. It can also be used to protect and prevent warping, swelling, shrinking, and end-checking caused by changes in moisture content of wood products, as well as rot, mold, mildew, and moss.

Tenino can be used for both remedial and preventive treatment of standing wooden poles, piling, and other existing wooden structures, as well as cellulose utility and construction products, including lumber end cuts, timber, rail ties, posts, poles, freeway fencing, siding, boats, piers, docks, boxes, roofs, shakes, cedar shake roofs, shingles, porches, steps, fences, rails, and beverage cases.

The treated wood with Tenino is suitable for use in ornamental or planting landscape timbers, ties, wooden seedling trays, outdoor decor, flower boxes, and window boxes. The product meets the AWPA Standard M4 end-cut requirements for exterior and ground contact field treatments, and should be used to fulfill the requirements in IBC 2303.1.9 and IRC R317.1.1 whenever pressure-treated lumber is cut or drilled.

Tenino Copper Naphthenate is best used to supplement pressure-treated preservative wood protection in aggressive hazard class environments envisioned in AWPA Use Category 4, 4B, and 4C. The ready-to-use formulation, containing 17% Copper Naphthenate (with 2% copper as metal), meets the AWPA M4 Standard and is required by building codes (IBC 2303.1.9 & IRC R317.1.1) for end-cuts of all pressure-treated lumber.

Notably, Tenino Copper Naphthenate is a low-VOC (<350g/L) product and is 100% domestically sourced from recycled copper and reclaimed by-products. It is labeled for General Use, and wood treated with Tenino can be discarded in local landfills. The product is also water-repellent and both toxic and repellent to termites and other wood-destroying insects.
